Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor

Nathan Roberts is a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor with the Virginia Department of Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), bringing more than thirteen years of experience in the vocational rehabilitation field. He serves individuals and families throughout the Lynchburg, Virginia region, supporting them in achieving meaningful employment and long-term independence. Nathan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Liberty University and a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from George Washington University.

In addition to his professional practice, Nathan teaches undergraduate psychology courses at Liberty University, where he is passionate about mentoring and preparing the next generation of professionals. He is also eligible to sit for the National Counselor Examination (NCE) toward licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).

Nathan is deeply committed to ensuring that individuals with disabilities and their families have a strong voice—especially those who are often underrepresented. He is passionate about building collaborative relationships among community partners and stakeholders who play a critical role in supporting successful outcomes. A frequent speaker on vocational rehabilitation topics, Nathan works closely with local high schools to assist students and families in planning for life after graduation.

In addition to his professional work, Nathan is a graduate of the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance’s Leadership Lynchburg program and currently serves on its Council, helping advance the organization’s mission of developing effective and engaged leaders across the region. Nathan is married and the father of seven, and his family also supports an adult with disabilities in their home. This blend of professional expertise and lived experience shapes his compassionate, practical approach to advocacy and resource connection. Nathan is honored to serve on the VACN Board of Directors and is committed to strengthening supports, expanding opportunities, and improving outcomes for individuals and families across the Commonwealth of Virginia.
