Access College Foundation
Vice President for Programs
Cheryl L. Jones is the Vice-President for Programs at ACCESS College Foundation. She oversees the daily operations of all four programs—Early Awareness, High School, and College & Career Success and Alumni Engagement. Her educational background includes an associate’s degree in business management from Tidewater Community College, bachelor’s degree in psychology from Virginia Wesleyan University and Master’s degree in executive leadership from Liberty University.
Cheryl’s professional career started at a busy law firm for 16 years, and in her spare time she started volunteering for ACCESS. She quickly fell in love with college access work. In 2000, Cheryl started at ACCESS as an advisor at Granby High School and has held many leadership positions there before becoming vice president for programs in 2018. She also completed her Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the Academy of Nonprofit Excellence in 2011. In 2013, she was awarded the National College Attainment Network College Access Staff Member Award of Excellence, and in 2017, Cheryl participated in the Bank of America Neighborhood Builders Emerging Leaders training. Cheryl is a member of the National College Attainment Network’s (NCAN) National Rapid Response Team on College Access and is an alumna of the CIVIC Leadership Institute, Class of 2020. From 2004 to 2019, Cheryl was on the Virginia College Access Network (VirginiaCAN) Board.
Cheryl’s passion for higher education extends to all sectors. It is important to her that every student in South Hampton Roads public high schools has an Access Advisor at their school to assist them with their journey toward a brighter future.
